Ultrasonic Inspection is a method to monitor air or gaseous leaks that may occur in pressure and vacuum systems. It can be easily performed while equipment is running which reduces loss production.
How does Ultrasonic Inspection work?
During a leak air moves from a high pressure area to a low pressure area. This flow of air causes a high frequency sound that cannot be heard by human ears. Using an ultrasonic detector a technician is able to hear these high frequency sounds while a meter records the levels.
Ultrasonic Inspection can be used to:
Locate pressurized leaks in:
Pneumatic air lines
Steam lines
Vacuum leaks
Locate internal leaks in:
Valves
Steam traps
Hydraulic systems
